  19. What Is CUJ?
  20. ------------

  22. The C Users Journal is written by sophisticated programmers for
  23. sophisticated programmers.  We insist on practical treatments of real
  24. programming problems, or on tutorials that make theory or complex
  25. issues more accessible to practicing programmers.  In place of
  26. product reviews, we publish user reports that show -- with insight
  27. backed by experience -- how to use commercial products that aid the
  28. program developer.  Our emphasis is on C and C++, or on tools used in
  29. conjunction with these languages. Back issues and quantity reprints
  30. of selected articles are available.

  33. Writing For CUJ
  34. ---------------

  36. If you have an idea for an article and experience that would qualify
  37. you to write for other programmers, please ask us for a set of author's
  38. guidelines.
  39.  
  40. We pay at rates that are competitive with other national technical
  41. journals.  We believe that our editorial assistance is better than most. 
  42. You don't have to be a professional writer to meet our acceptance
  43. criteria, but you must have something to say. 
  44.  
  45. A proposal consists of a brief abstract and outline, preferably totaling
  46. no more than one page, and a brief resume of your qualifications.  When
  47. mailing the proposal, please include a hard copy and an ASCII text file
  48. on an MS-DOS formatted disk. 
  49.  
  50. You MUST submit your manuscript on an MS-DOS disk.  Files must be in raw
  51. ASCII format, flush left, with one empty line between paragraphs.  Code
  52. should be no wider than 64 columns.  Keep any code as brief as possible
  53. and to the point.  If you ignore any of these requirements you increase
  54. the probability that an otherwise acceptable article will be rejected.

  56. All topics pertinent to advanced programming issues in C and C++ are
  57. appropriate for proposals.

  64. Mexico, and $65 overseas (airmail).
